Now the winter seemed long.
Laura and Mary began to be tired
of staying always in the house.

Chiot’s Run is in NE Ohio so we have LONG winters. I’m not quite to the point where I’m ready to get out, but I’ll be there in February. One of the things that makes winters more bearable is the snow. It makes the days brighter and covers everything in a beautiful blanket of lovely. I think it’s natures version of throwing everything in the closet when guests are coming over. Here are some photos of our snowy winters.
What are the winter’s like where you live?
We are waiting for our next snow storm to hit later today.
Great shots by the way.

Who doesn’t love a good Little House on the Prairie quote? Winters here are typically rainy, though we’re always hoping for snow at least once! Thanks for sharing your photos (especially like the trees against the blue sky); I was just commenting on another blog with snow photos, that I live vicariously through those of you who are fortunate to have such an abundance of the white stuff this time of year!
Since we are further north than you, winters last a bit longer here, sometimes into May. In fact, our recommended plant date isn’t until Memorial Day, not that I can usually wait that long but sometimes I pay for that impatience! By the end of February I’m pretty much done and thinking of moving back to Cali. Having said that, when the sun is out during the winter, which is rarely seems to be, it seems to be much more tolerable! Today was a good day; in the 20’s but the sun was shining!
Winters here (coastal SW B.C., Canada)are determined by el nino, or la nina, and this year we are due for colder temps and more snow. So far, other than a surprise snowfall in November (very early for us) we have been mild and green. This week we are forecast more snow, and lasting cold for a week with on and off snowfall. It’s beautiful when we get it, but i also love popping peas and lettuce out early when it’s mild in late February or early March. I love snow, but like a short winter too 🙂
Your photos are lovely!
I have the “Little House” series from my childhood. Thanks for the memories!
In North Carolina today we’re experiencing our 2nd snow “event” (that’s what they call snow storms around here). Southerners are NOT well equiped to deal with even a few inches, so we’re all hunkered down today.
Whoo Hoo! Snow Day!
Had a few flakes come down this morning. When you live on the wet coast of BC, it’s an exciting moment, hey Erin! Yes, it’s time to start plants for March. I do hope we get a dump though: love to see everything dressed in white. As always, these photos are stunning and awesome….sigh…..
Beautiful photos. I remember that beauty from growing up in MN & WI. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful glimpse into the beauty of winter snow. Emiy
I live in the Cincinnati area, and it’s true that the grocery stores are swamped right before a big snowfall. It’s like we’ve never had snow in this area before and everyone goes crazy trying to prepare. So funny!
It’s sunny and warm in San Jose today. Kids are eating popsicles and running around outside in short sleeves today.
