This week, we’re inspired by the leaders of natural and local, be it gardens or food.

This week I (Sincerely, Emily) arranged a field trip for the local garden club that I am in. We went to The Natural Gardener in Austin, TX owned by John Dromgoole (has been doing an organic radio show for 30 years.) The nursery was wonderful and celebrates 30 years this year. Then we headed to lunch at a local restaurant called Jack Allen’s Kitchen. They work with local farmers to use local and seasonal food in some of the dishes.

Pumpkin Seed Pesto Marinated Chicken Breast, Portobello mushroom stuffed with artichoke gratin and goat cheese drizzle
It was a great day. Local Nursery. Local Restaurant (serving some local food!) Good Friends.

As local as it gets. The last tomato harvest.
What have you been up to this week?
I live in South Austin and Natural Gardener is my go to nursery. I was out there this week bagging my own turkey compost. It’s wonderful stuff. Their help desk is wonderful in answering questions and making suggestions.
HI Joy – thanks for stopping by. I really enjoyed going to The Natural Gardener. I saw the help desk, there just wasn’t enough time to do and see everything. I know I will stop in again. We have some great local nurseries in San Antonio also, it is just nice to check out some new ones from time to time.
Great post!
TBR – Thanks for stopping by.
I need to head over and see if you have posted the answer to how many cats where on your porch….
Xan -Love the glimpse of the bean hanging in the front of your first photo. Beautiful peppers and tomatoes. local and beautiful!
Pumpkin pesto………..I made it two years ago and loved it. I love eating raw pumpkin seeds. Last week I made some sunflower seed pesto, came out much better than I expected.
Have been planting some peppers, crowder peas and passion fruit.
Here in the Caribbean it is always planting season. I am growin mung beans for the first time. Have 4 small plants……….my need for sprouted mung beans is great.
