We live on 10 acres. Our land has so much potential…if Martha lived here everything would be different!
I do not have a proper English double border…although there is room for one.
I do not have a rose garden…although the elk would love it!
I do not have a cottage garden surrounded by white pickets along my front walk…although I would adore that!
I do not have a pound with lillies and koi…although I do have a water trough.
No cutting garden, no white garden, no secret garden…
There are many grand and wonderful things that I could have, but because of time, energy…and money, I don’t.
But what I do have I love…
I have sunflowers turning their heads to the sky…
I have sweet juicy berries ready to harvest…
I have pumpkins starting to color up…
And potatoes blooming like crazy…
As are the beans…
No lace covered bistro table… but there is lace…
There are cosmos…
And eggplant blooming.
No I do not have a front garden surrounded by an antique iron fence…
But I do have a little piece of fence that beans are scrambling up..
.
No…Martha Stewart would indeed do it differently.
But for me, my little vegetable garden is…
A Very Good Thing!
What a beautiful post. And from my view, you have quite a lot, and a lot that makes your heart happy is a lot any way that one looks at it. I don’t think I would like a garden that many would think is “right” or “professional” – but one that is useful, lovely to my eyes, and that gives me a sense of connectedness to the earth is perfect.
We all have something that we love and no matter what anyone else has, what YOU have is very special because it is yours!!! Love what you have not what someone else has got!!! I couldn’t agree more!
Beautiful post! And beautiful pictures.
That is a lace covered bistro table if I ever saw one! The bee thinks so.
cheers,
HDR
Beautiful post! Love the pictures.
I’ve got projects I’m working on here, but like you, say, because of time, money, and energy, nothing gets done in quite the way you’d like. All works in progress. Our butterfly garden is coming along, though, and it’s lovely to blog because it remind me to stop and look at what I *do* have and appreciate that.
What a lovely reminder about appreciating and seeing the value in the things that we do have.
If Martha had it, it would end up in a mag some where then it wouldn’t be a secert any more, or unique to your yard. It is just lovely the way it is and I’m sure you wouldn’t have it any other way, but yours.
Just lovely!

Thank you for sharing your words and your images.
And for reminding me to look at my own wonderful (but weedy) garden, etc as a list of chores already half-completed, rather than only half done…
