Tara’s Introduction

Hello! My name is Tara. You might remember me from this guest post awhile back. I’ve been asked to be a regular contributor to Not Dabbling and I’m thrilled!

Just to refresh your memory on who I am: I live in Las Vegas, NV with my husband, Justin and our radical little goober, Zeb. He’s 9 and we’ve been unschooling for 2.5 years. I blog at The Organic Sister about peaceful parenting, urban homesteading, green living and anything that skips into our lives. You could call us a unique blend of characters. Some just call us weird.

What makes us less than normal? Hmm, does corn growing in the front of our suburban yard count? How about cloth toilet paper, homebrewed beer or an off-grid dream? I’m sure I have a few friends and family members that could throw in some choice nuggets, as well.

We don’t find any of these things abnormal, though. We strive to live “beyond green” in our actions, for our own health and the health of the planet. Living organically is simple, frugal and the most normal thing any of us could do! Our goal is to live in a self-sustaining home with water catchment, solar energy (passive and not) and a permaculture landscape. Until then, we’re playing in the dirt on our tiny suburban lot with about 1800 sq ft of yard in which to plant, as we work our way in that direction.

I’m looking forward to sharing in our adventures here at Not Dabbling In Normal, as we learn and grow, frustrate ourselves and laugh and just enjoy our organic life. I’m also looking forward to getting to know all of you here!
